Company Profile: Excellence, Leadership, Compassion.

Twenty-five years ago, hospice care in America was a new, unreimbursed, alternative idea in caring for the terminally ill. There were fewer than 100 hospices in the country. Today, hospice is a mainstream provider of services that is fully reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, managed care providers, and private insurers. There are now over 3,000 organizations providing hospice services in the United States.

American Hospice (AH), the oldest hospice management company in the U.S., is one of the five or ten largest hospice companies in the country. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, AH has ten hospices in Phoenix and Avondale, Arizona, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, an Atlanta and Jonesboro, Georgia, Bloomfield and Tom's River, New Jersey, and in Richmond, Tappahannock, and Farmville, Virginia.

In 2004, the Riverside Company, a large private equity group, partnered with American Hospice to recapitalize the company and its managed sites. Mr. Jeffrey Preuss, CEO, and Mr. Andrew Parker, President provide executive leadership and are members of the Board of Directors of American Hospice.

Together Mr. Preuss and Mr. Parker have over 50 years of experience in health care administration, finance, and marketing. Mr. Parker was active in the development of legislation that resulted in the authorization of Medicare and Medicaid coverage for hospice care and has exceptional experience in hospice operations.

Since its founding in 1992 as the nation's first hospice management firm, American Hospice has focused exclusively on programmatic excellence in hospice. Its reputation for compassionate service excellence is unsurpassed.

Over the years, AH has operated hospices in Arizona, Delaware, Illinois (2), Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey (2), Oklahoma (2), Pennsylvania (2), Texas, Virginia (2), Georgia, and Wisconsin.
